With the arrival of the AXIS StorPoint CD E100, sharing CDs and DVDs has

entered a new era of high performance, advanced features and usability. The

AXIS StorPoint CD E100 features the ETRAX 100 processor, which brings high

data throughput coupled with a higher level of integration. Some features of the

AXIS StorPoint CD E100 are:

• Powerful hardware platform: AXIS ETRAX 100 processor with auto-sensing Ethernet

10/100 and Ultra-SCSI controller, 4MB of Flash and 32-160MB of RAM.

• Support for hard disk caching. All CDs or selected CDs can be cached to a

hard disk.

• Improved “Windows-like” Web interface for improved management capabilities.

Axis' Unique Approach to Hard Disk Caching

The AXIS StorPoint CD E100 supports hard disk caching, which allows many

CDs or DVDs to be copied to a local hard disk for greatly improved data access

speed. The number of CDs that can be cached is only limited by the size of

the hard disk. Hard disk caching with the AXIS StorPoint CD is flexible, with

several options that optimize application performance at a low cost. It is also

very fast. Accessing data on a hard disk is

generally 10 milliseconds or fewer,

compared to nearly 100 milliseconds

with multi-speed CD-ROM drives.

A full CD (650MB) is copied to the

HD in just minutes.

Hard disk caching with CD/DVD

network attached towers offers many

benefits, including:

• Increasing the number of CDs avail-

able to network users.

• Shortening the access time for data

on multiple CDs.

• Avoiding the delays caused by shuffling discs in multi-disc CD changers.

• Keeping high-value CDs and DVDs safe — away from the tower. Once

cached, CDs can be removed but the data remains ready for use.

Note: The ETRAX 4 version of the StorPoint CD will still be available, for economical

CD/DVD networking, where caching is not required.

A Web browser is all users need to view the

caching options.

Up to 27 full-length CDs can

be cached onto an 18 GB drive.

If the CDs only contain 200 MB of

data, the 18 GB hard disk can hold a

total of 90 CDs.

StorPoint CD/T module integrates into

standard 5.25 inch drive bay for easy tower

or rack mount assembly.
